What is the iDev SMTP Relay Service?
It is a Windows NT/2000/XP-Serviceapplication which can get mail
from your mailclient using the SMTP protocol. It does resolve the
receiptients mailserver and sends out the email directly to these
servers without the need of a outgoing mailserver. This means that the iDev SMTP Relay Service can act as outgoing mailserver so you don't need an outgoing mailserver eg. from your ISP anymore.
What get's installed with this Setup?
First your get a new Service installed called "iDev SMTP Relay
Service". Then you also get a program group which contains a
configuration tool. In addition you also get an new icon within the the
control panel wich also invokes the configuration tool.
How to install/configure the programm?
- Install it using the setup and follow the screen instructions.
- At the end of the setup do the basic configuration. Mainly you
have to add one or more users and their passwords within the "users"
tab. By default a user "demo" with password "idev" get's installed.
- Make sure the System-Account (User
Account for the Operating System) has permissions to execute/open all
the files within the SMTP-Relay-Directory.
