I know, long time no hear about Mail Inspector. Think many of you doesn't expext that there will be something going on in this area

I just thought you may be interested in hearing that there is progress with the rewrite of Mail Inspector . Yes, it's true: we do a complete rewrite of the whole software to get things done the proper way.

Accounts

At the time you are reading this large parts of the new Mail Inspector Framework are already re-written (but not tested a lot of course ). With version 4 of Mail Inspector the whole program will be truly multithreaded. This means that it will check multiple mail account truly parallel. That should be a real performance booster if you have a lot of accounts. Every account has its own settings which includes the scheduiling, notification, securtiy-settings etc.

Actions

On the other hand we have actions one can do with email you all know: list (check), read, send and delete. As all the communication is done using true multithreading the accounts will not affect others anymore. As a new action "bouncing" is integreated deeply in the core. Some of you may know email-bouncing already from products like MailWasher. For the others: bouncing is an advanced version of "delete". It first sends an email to the sender of the "spam" which looks like an Maildemon error message. After that it will delete the spam mail directly from your server.

To be done:

Besides all the work already done there is still quite a lot of development needs to be done. The following areas are not done yet but are on the ToDo-List as next:

- Integrate mail processing into the UI (read, delete and bounce)
- Sending email
- Notificationsystem
- General configuration
- More advanced UI

It's just hard to develop these days as it is the warmes sommer here in switzerland since 250 years. 

Anyway: I'll try to get you regular updates on how things are going.
