Logfiles can sometimes be very use to find the source of a probem in communication between Mail Inspector and the Mail Server's. POP3 in this case shows the incomming mails while SMTP is for the outgoing emails. When the logfiles are activated they show the entire communition between Mail Inspector and the Mail Servers in plain text.
Activate POP3/SMTP-logfiles in Mail Inspector 3.x:
- Go to File > Configuration > Advanced
- Activate the logfiles by clicking on the checkboxes for POP3- and/or SMTP-logfile
- Force the problem to occur by doing exactly that what doesn't work correctly.
- The logfiles now should be stored in the Mail Inspector's Programdirectory. They are named ...._POP3.LOG and ...._SMTP.LOG.
- If you have to send them to iDev.ch please make sure the passwords are removed from these logfiles (eg. by fill them with "*"). You can do this by using Notepad or any other text editor.
